MSA Indian Trail is one of MSA's four practice locations in the Charlotte area. We coach swimmers ages 7 and up across twelve groups, from new swimmers learning to race to senior athletes preparing for state and national meets. This page covers who we are, how groups are organized, and where to find what.
Practices happen year-round at our Indian Trail pool — an Olympic-length 50-meter facility in Union County. We train short course (25 yards) during the school year and long course (50 meters) during the summer. For more information, including practice times, coach info, and overall team info, visit our Indian Trail page on the team portal.
Swimmers are placed by age range first, then by ability within the range. Most start in the entry-level group for their age and move up as their stroke work and conditioning develop.
The progression is roughly: technique in the youngest groups, conditioning introduced in the middle tiers, and competitive training through the senior levels. Age ranges are the typical placement, but coaches will sometimes move a swimmer up or down based on what's the right fit.
